IT Engineer / Full-Stack Developer

Role Overview

As an IT Engineer at Metabio, you will work closely with our engineering, scientific, and product teams to build secure, high-performance web applications and scalable backend services. You will participate in both the development and maintenance of production systems, while also contributing to research efforts involving AI, data pipelines, and interoperability standards such as FHIR. Core Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain backend services using Node.js, TypeScript, and RESTful APIs.
  • Build and enhance front-end web applications using Angular 2+, HTML5, CSS/SCSS.
  • Work with relational databases, including MySQL, and write efficient queries.
  • Containerize applications and contribute to CI/CD pipelines using Docker.
  • Implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms (JWT, OAuth2).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support production systems and research prototyping.
  • Use Git and modern version-control workflows to maintain clean and reliable codebases.
  • Assist in systems troubleshooting, integrations, and general IT/engineering operations tasks.

Core Technical Requirements

  • Experience in TypeScript and JavaScript (ES6+)
  • Experience with Node.js backend development
  • Experience with Angular 2+
  • Understanding of MySQL databases
  • Knowledge of HTML5, CSS / SCSS
  • Experience building and managing Docker images and containers
  • Understanding of RESTful API design
  • Knowledge of authentication/authorization protocols (JWT, OAuth2, etc.)

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Familiarity with FHIR and/or PostgreSQL, especially in health-data contexts
  • Experience with Ionic Framework for hybrid apps
  • Mobile development experience (Android/iOS), using: Native Android (Kotlin), Swift, React Native, Ionic/Capacitor
  • Experience integrating AI APIs (OpenAI, LangChain, vector databases, LLM frameworks, etc.)
  • Practical understanding of machine learning workflows or modern LLM application architectures

Optional Skills

  • Knowledge of web application security best practices (OWASP)
  • Front-end performance optimization techniques

Role Overview

Metabio is expanding its platform capabilities and seeking a Bioinformatician to join our team. In this role, you will contribute to the development of analytical pipelines, integrate existing bioinformatics tools into our platform, and support research initiatives involving genomics, multi-omics, and AI-driven workflows. You will work alongside software engineers, data scientists, and Biomedical experts to design and execute bioinformatics analyses, evaluate open-source software, and help develop new tools when necessary. This position is ideal for someone with solid foundational knowledge in bioinformatics and statistics, strong practical skills, and an eagerness to grow within a fast-moving health-tech environment.

Core Responsibilities

  • Analyze biological datasets (genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, or other omics) and generate meaningful insights.
  • Integrate open-source bioinformatics tools and libraries into the Metabio platform.
  • Build, adapt, or extend analytical workflows using scripting and automation.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure smooth interaction between computational pipelines and production systems.
  • Evaluate existing bioinformatics tools and propose improvements or replacements where appropriate.
  • Assist in the development of statistical models and data-processing algorithms.
  • Document workflows, maintain reproducible analysis environments, and contribute to platform scalability.
  • Support R&D efforts involving AI, ML models, large-scale data processing, and healthcare data standards (e.g., FHIR).

Core Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biology with Data Science, or a related field.
  • Experience with analysis of biological datasets and understanding of core bioinformatics concepts.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or R for scripting, statistics, and data manipulation.
  • Familiarity with tools such as BLAST, BWA, GATK, Samtools, Bioconductor, or similar.
  • Analytical and statistical skills (e.g., hypothesis testing, regression models, data normalization).
  • Experience working with common data formats (FASTA, FASTQ, BAM, VCF, etc.).
  • Ability to combine and orchestrate existing bioinformatics tools within pipelines.
  • Understanding of reproducibility, environment management, and workflow versioning.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with workflow frameworks such as Nextflow, Snakemake, or WDL/Cromwell.
  • Familiarity with databases used in life sciences (NCBI, Ensembl, UniProt, etc.).
